Bogyoku is Hotohori's and Shu Tendo's half-brother. Along with Ougi, Kotsuki, and his mother Motaiko, he is another character to be only unveiled in the light novel Suzaku Hi Den. His story is not much told; the Emperor only recalls his death from a horseback accident.
