Touyama
Touyama is one of Takiko's classmates in Morioka. She and her friends aren't the nicest sort, and poke fun at the rumors of Takiko's dying mother. She is also annoyed and jealous of the fact that Takiko is new and already popular with the teachers. She thinks Takiko is 'loose' and acts too rough since she is from a big city like Tokyo.
She is engaged to a wealthy lord, and this seems to cool her qualms with Takiko a bit, enough that they can be civil.
